As a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) parliament, I would like to extend my congratulations on the first publication of the BTA Parliament Magazine.

Over a hundred days have already elapsed since the overwhelming YES vote won in support of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) and we are now enjoying the fruit of our long years of struggle. Finally, the Bangsamoro is now recognized before the law as a people with a distinct historical and cultural identity.

Transitioning from a revolutionary organization to the democratic governance is never an easy job. Expectations are high for the BTA among the community and it is putting a huge responsibility for the new parliament members to show results as soon as they can. In a recent study, about 76% of Filipino Muslims trust that the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is capable of governing the BARMM as they become a dominant political force in the region since its members automatically comprised majority of the 80-member of BTA. There is a huge challenge to the MILF to build the foundations of the new Bangsamoro region.

Our autonomous region may have just been established, and our officials have just assumed their respective posts but they are doing their best effort to deliver and give what the people have long dreamed of and that is to have a good and transparent government, a government that works for the best interest and welfare of the Bangsamoro people and the rest of the Filipino citizen within the region.

We, the appointed officers of the BTA parliament are committed to support this newly-installed government as we know that it is a product of hard work of people with the aspiration of achieving sustainable peace and development.

The publication of this magazine is a good platform to let the people have a glimpse of what the BTA have already accomplished in the past 180 days. It will also give them information of the future plans of the organization.

May the Bangsamoro people continue to support the BTA and may we always be reminded especially the BTA members that what we have now is the fruit of a decade-long struggle of Bangsamoro people and it took so many lives of our mujahideens and mujahidats. Lastly, may we all have an apparent optimism that the BARMM is Mindanao’s best chance for peace, self-sufficiency and genuine development, In shaa Allah.
